A rescue diver involved in the Thailand cave rescue operation is reportedly exploring legal action against Elon Musk. The diver, Vernon Unsworth, alleges that Musk defamed him during public statements made on social media. Unsworth was part of the international team that extracted a junior football team and their coach from a flooded cave system in Thailand in 2018.
The incident stemmed from Musk’s offer of a mini-submarine, designed by his company SpaceX, to assist in the rescue. Unsworth publicly criticized the submarine's design, deeming it impractical for the cave's narrow passages. Musk subsequently made disparaging comments about Unsworth online, which the diver claims were false and damaging to his reputation, prompting consideration of a lawsuit.
