Musk wins court order to block use of “Twitter,” but not “tweet” and bird logo

A Delaware court has granted Elon Musk a preliminary injunction preventing the use of the name "Twitter" in a trademark dispute. The ruling, issued by the Court of Chancery, specifically prohibits the defendant company, X Corp. Technologies, from using the term "Twitter" in connection with its online services and software. However, the injunction does not extend to the word "tweet" or the iconic blue bird logo, which remain subject to further legal consideration.

This legal action stems from Musk's ongoing rebranding efforts for his social media platform, which he officially renamed "X" in July 2023. The company X Corp. Technologies, which previously operated under the name Twitter Inc., alleged that Musk's adoption of "X" infringed on their existing trademarks. The court's decision represents a significant early victory for Musk in his efforts to protect the new branding and avoid confusion with established entities bearing similar names.
