Zelensky gives award to Elon Musk for Starlink's role in Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has recognized Elon Musk with Ukraine's Order of Freedom, acknowledging the crucial contribution of Musk's company, SpaceX, through its Starlink satellite internet service. Starlink has been instrumental in maintaining communications infrastructure in Ukraine since the outset of the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022. The provision of these terminals allowed for the continuation of essential services, including government operations, military coordination, and civilian connectivity in areas where terrestrial networks were destroyed or rendered inoperable.

This award highlights the significant impact of private technological support on a nation at war. Starlink's deployment represented a novel and vital lifeline, enabling Ukraine to resist the disruption caused by the conflict.
